Our aim is simple – to serve good food and drink at sensible prices in a relaxed, friendly and clean environment.
We know that not everyone wants the same thing. You might want a pint of local real ale at the bar… A bottle of wine and a grazing board on the sofas… A meal in the restaurant… A really good coffee with a read of the paper… To rest your head the night before an important business meeting… A relaxing weekend break only 4 miles from Bury St Edmunds… Take your pick.
We’re passionate about wine and have created a list which offers a selection of old favourites combined with some more unusual and quirky wines. The common theme is that we believe they are all well made wines offering good value for money. Around 15 of our wines are available by the glass.
On the food side, the emphasis is on good quality, seasonal produce and, wherever possible, we source it locally. We are delighted to have been awarded an AA rosette for our food. Our breakfast menu includes Suffolk bacon and local sausages. We love Sunday lunch and offer a great roast – bring the family or meet up with friends and catch up on your week.
We’re open all day. So if you’re in need of a good breakfast first thing, a locally roasted coffee in the morning or a good cup of tea in the afternoon, you know where to come.
Our 7 en-suite rooms have been thoughtfully designed to be comfortable and relaxing. All offer flat screen TV’s and radio alarm clocks. We also put freshly ground coffee and homemade biscuits in each room. If you’d like to take a look, just ask us – if we have an empty room, we’d love to show you round.
Free wi-fi is available throughout the pub and bedrooms.
We also have a large garden with a heated decked area. It’s perfect for al fresco dining – even on those typically British, not so warm days. We even have some comfy tub chairs for you to lounge around on.
Children are welcome all day (and all night!) and we have a play area in the garden. Our kids menu is important to us. It is aimed at children under 8 and each dish is freshly prepared. You can also order a kids roast pork or beef on Sundays. Where possible, we are very happy to prepare smaller portions from our main menu. Baby changing facilities, highchairs, a toy box (and crayons!) and travel cots (please mention when you book) are available.
We are canine friendly. Dogs are always welcome in the garden on a lead. If your dog is well behaved then we’re happy for you to have him (or her) on a lead in the lounge or in the garden dining room. We do ask that you keep your dog out of the way as we hope you appreciate that dogs are not everyone’s cup of tea.
